 Dr. Bassam Talhouni is the current Minister of Justice of the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Born in     1964,  Dr. Talhouni holds a doctorate degree in law from the University of Edinburgh, a bachelor's degree and a master's       degree in law from the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan. He is a practicing lawyer licensed by the Jordanian Bar     Association since 1991.

 

Before the issuance of the Royal Decree to delegating him for the second time as Minister of Justice, Dr. Talhouni held numerous high-profile positions including being a Senator (member of the Upper House of the Jordanian Parliament, Sep 2016 – Oct 2018), Chairman of The Board Of Trustees - Al Hussein Technical University, Director General of Companies Controller Directorate, member of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Deposits Insurance Corporation, member of the Jordanian Higher Committee of the Certified Public Accountants profession, chairman of the National Corporate Governance Committee, board member of the Jordan Industrial Estates Company and Minister of Justice ((Aug 2013 – Sep 2016).

 

Furthermore, Dr. Talhouni held several academic and administrative positions including a member of the Council of University of Jordan, member of the Faculty of Law, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law and assistant professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan.

 

Throughout his career, Dr. Talhouni participated in numerous high-profile seminars, events and workshops at local, regional and global levels including the UNICETRAL Working Group on Insolvency, chaired the annual meeting for the Minister of Justice of the League of Arab Nations and many prestigious events at the local levels involving national and international counterparts.  

 

He is an expert in Intellectual Property Rights. Dr. Talhouni structured advices to various local and international organizations on IP and other commercial-related affairs. He supervised many master's degrees thesis as well as researches of judges as prerequisite for graduation from the Judicial Institute.

 

Dr. Talhouni is married with a boy and a daughter.
