Talhouni "Everyone is interested in fighting the scourge of drugs"
Minister of Justice and Minister of Education Dr. Bassam Talhouni said that the issue of drugs has become very important in the society in a way that calls for concerted official and popular efforts to fight this scourge in order to protect our youth.
Talhouni said during a seminar on combating drugs at the Fuheis Cultural Forum: "Everyone is interested in fighting this scourge through legislation, education and through the educational axis of the dangers of this scourge," referring to the efforts exerted by the Anti-Narcotics Department to tackle this scourge.
He stressed the importance of the role of the teacher in this area by educating students and introducing the concepts of drug control to school curricula, in parallel with the role of the family and the media to help all those involved in this scourge.
The head of Emaar al-Fuhais Foundation, Dr. Musa Eshteiwi, said that the government felt the danger of this scourge, which is taking lives, pointing out that the security institutions have provided martyrs in order to deal with this scourge and its promoters.
He pointed out that we wanted to address this crisis and eradicate it must be prevention is the main policy complementary to the policy of combating smuggling and promotion carried out by the security services with all ability.
Colonel Ahmed Abu Zeid of the Anti-Narcotics Department said that the department has been working with the various sectors of society and its sectors for the purpose of raising awareness and guidance about the dangers of drugs and its destruction through lectures, seminars and workshops held in civil society institutions and military institutions in cooperation with various ministries and official departments.
He added that a treatment center was established in 1993 to manage the fight against drugs and was expanded in 2012 and has been equipped with sports facilities, workshops and laboratories with international standards, where the person who wants treatment to enter the center in complete confidentiality free and without penalty or restriction within the program of psychological, religious and sports highly qualified specialists.
The forum's president, Samir Al-Namat, said that the aim of the symposium is to raise the awareness of the generation about the dangers of the scourge of drugs that threaten not only their lives and their personal future, but also the society as a whole.
